Spartan West Park 5k results 140114
Members of the Maher family filled three of the first four places in a 5k evening race at West Park recently. Teenager Sam Maher was first home in 16 mins 37 secs, overtaking Tony Banks in the last kilometre to win with a stunning and well-executed victory. Banks was second in 16-51, with Sam’s uncle Dominic taking third place in 17-35 and Sam’s dad Damian fourth in 17-42.
Jo Gorrod won the women’s race, on her birthday, by nearly a minute from her nearest rival Andrea Banks who was second home in 19-57, with Claire Forbes, still on her way back from illness, finishing third in 22-03.
