Training - let's get fit!
The main base of the Club is at the athletics track within FB Fields in St Clement, Jersey, where the Richard Wilkinson JSAC Clubhouse is located. Training times are Tuesday & Thursday evening (5pm until 7:30pm) and Saturday & Sunday morning (9:30am until 12pm) when Club has exclusive use of the all-weather track, and we have a small gym in the Clubhouse. There is also road running training on Tuesdays at West Park.
Training Groups & Times
Minis are athletes in school years 3, 4 and 5 as of 1st March, but who will go up to years 4, 5 and 6 in September (at start of the new school term). The focus is on fitness, fun, with an introduction to athletic technique – and encouraging everybody to become involved in athletics. Minis train once a week on a Sunday morning, during school term time. There are two forty-minute sessions available, 9.30am-10.10am and 10.20am-11am.

Athletes in the U13 and U15 age groups (school years 6 through to 9) train between 6:30pm and 7:30pm on Tuesday & Thursday evenings. New starts are introduced through a monthly induction session.

Older Junior and Senior track & field athletes train between 6:00pm and 7:30pm on Tuesday & Thursday evenings and on Saturday and Sunday between 10:30am and 12pm. Specific days and start times are dependent on the coach. Winter sessions may be conducted on sand dunes or hills away from the track.

Endurance track sessions for middle and long distance athletes are held on a Tuesday & Thursday at FB fields at 6.15pm until 7:30pm. Hill sessions are also held outside these times.

Road runners training is on Tuesday evenings at 6:00pm at the Elizabeth Marina, near the Freedom Tree. Training consists of a 15 minute low-intensity warm up followed by an interval session, that changes each week, typically lasting between 30-40 minutes.
Once a month, instead of the Tuesday interval session, there is a 5km race that starts and finishes at West Park. Check-in for these races opens at 6.00pm with the race starting at 6.30pm. Dates and details for these races can be found in the Events Calendar.
In addition to the Tuesday evening sessions, races of varying distances (from 5km to Half Marathon) are held throughout the year. All details for these races can also be found in the Events Calendar.
The emphasis is on fun and the Club welcomes runners of all abilities.
