More PBs for JSAC athletes on the track & field

After a hugely frantic week involving a mad dash to the UK by one of our volunteer officials, we successfully got a licence for this competition.  Many thanks to Judy Andrews-Callec for her efforts!

The wet weather didn’t materialise at FB Fields for our second track & field event of the season, but we had our customary wind to challenge the athletes.

The evening commenced on the field with Daniel Dubras (U17) wining the Javelin with another PB of 41.89m from Tom Bennet (U17) with 39.39m.

The track started with 4 hurdles races, more athletes than we’ve had hurdling for a number of years, which is excellent to see.

The 5,000m saw a great runs from a number of the competitors.  Sam Maher won in 14:58.47 with George Rice not far behind in 15:07.34.  Bradley Andrews-Callec (U17M) was third in 15:23.41.  All 3 got PBs, as did Rahul Kini in 4th (16:34.98)

The 200m races also produced some excellent performances, considering the windy conditions.  Steven Mackay won the mens 200m in 22.40, with Matt Brown getting a PB for 2nd in 23.18.  Geneva Frankson ran 29.99 in her very first outing at 200m.

In the 800m races, the most impressive performances came from the U13s with Miles Christopher winning the boys race in 2:31.35 and Thea Thompson spiriting for the win in the U13 girls with 2:32.56.

Many thanks to Dan from Sportscast Jersey for photographing the evening.
