Medal and PBs at U20/Senior 2022 SEAA Indoor Champs

Tyler Johnson had a successful outing at the South of England Indoor Championships at Lee Valley this weekend (5/6th Feb).  Running for his first claim club, City of Plymouth, he won his heat and semi-final, improving his times through the rounds before achieving 3rd place in the final in 48.88, despite the tight turn around between the rounds.

In the Senior men’s 60m both Aiden Loane and Steven Mackay got PBs (with 7.50 and 7.18 respectively) but were unable to progress to the next round in a very large field of 10 heats and a number of athletes running sub 7s.  Steven did progress to the semi-final in the 200m, where improved from 22.92 in the heats to 22.90 in the semi.  Aiden got 24.42 in his heat.

The U20 athletes were all in the first year of their age group and so the competition was tough, but there were plenty of PBs – Jonty Butler with 7.58 in the 60m and 6.06m in the long jump; Matt Brown with 23.87 in the 200m and 55.35 in the 400m.

In the U20 women’s races Katie Le Rougetel ran a respectable 8.27 in the 60m, and Lucci Baker gained 4th place in the final of the 200m in 27.47, having won marginally faster in the heat with a PB of 27.38.  Lucci also ran the 800m in 2:26.12

Coach Peter Irving wasn’t one to miss out on the action and ran the 60m hurdles in 9.08 and the 400m in 53.06.
