What was supposed to be a race of only about 4.5miles turned into a 10km cross-country at the weekend after Dave Woodsford and Jo and Nick Gorrod weren’t quite accurate with measuring a new course and the race turned into a gritty endeavour in the wind, rain and mud.
The first of these hardy souls to finish was Elliot Dorey in 37mins 22secs, with Tony Banks runner-up in 37:45. A great performance by Mike du Feu saw him finish third in 39:50 and win the run-of-the-day award.
Jo Gorrod was a clear winner in the women’s event, coming home in 42:55. Duathlete Katie Thompson followed home in 43:54 with Andrea Banks third in 45:40.
