Jersey Marathon 2010

CLAIRE FORBES does not fit neatly into the profile of a multiple marathon winner, though she wears her crown exceedingly well after retaining the ladies’ honours in the Standard Chartered Jersey event on 3rd October 2010.

It’s two wins out of two for the 39-year-old mum, with a personal best thrown in for good measure; but this was not the culmination/reward of obsessive training for the event, more a display of all-round athletic ability and a well under-played determination to win. She completed the course in 2 hr 57 min 18 sec.

The first man home was Jan Pichl, who hails from the Czech Republic, but is currently living in Preston, running for Salford Harriers. First Jersey runner was Eliot Lincoln, who just overtook Islander James Cunningham near to the finish to also claim third overall.
