Excellent Results at Hampshire Track & Field Championships

The weekend of the 12/13th May were the Hampshire County Track & Fields championships and a team of over 30 athletes travelled to Portsmouth to compete.

Over the weekend there were standout performanaces from many athletes and the first appearance at Hamps for the new U13 squad.  In particular Abhishek Ajith, who despite only just joining JSAC, took an easy lead in the U13 Boys 100m and 200m heats and went on to win 2 golds in these events with a very confident lead from the start of both finals.  Andrew Gatehouse, who is also new to the club and had his first appearance at this meeting, took silver in the U15 Boys LJ and 200m.  Heavy rain appeared later on the first day making the U13 Girls HJ a fairly unpleasant experience for the newcomers to this meeting.  They performed well despite the weather and Eva-Raine Clarke took silver with a jump of 1.25m.  The U13 team were the strongest that we have had at this meeting for a few years and came away with 5 medals.

The sun came out on the second day and Ben Neasham’s 75mH was a triumph as he outclassed the other competitiors in his race.  Personal bests were aplenty over the two days with virtually all athletes achieving PBs in their events. Cameron Campbell medalled in all his events with one of every color in his throws comps.  JSAC also had a clean sweep in U20 Mens shot and had a had medallists in every male 100m final from U20 down.   Three of our athletes achieved English Schools qualifying standards – Cameron Campbell in the discus, Olivia Allbut in the 400m hurdles and Robert Thomas in the 100m.
