Spartan Pont Marquet cross country results 011213
A total of 44 athletes, juniors and seniors, took part in an off-road race at Pont Marquet country park organised by Jersey Spartan at the week-end. In the December sunshine the men’s race was won by teenager Phil Maguire in a time of 28 mins 40 secs for the 4.5 mile course, this run also winning him the run of the day award. Late finishing Josh Brien took the runner-up spot in 29 04 while veteran Jon Coote who was the early leader came in third in 29 15.
In the women’s event Jo Gorrod was back to good form posting a time of 31 02 to be first woman home and eighth overall. Duathlete Katie Thompson finished second in 32 13 and third place went to supervet Sylvia Thompson in 34 22, a gutsy run as she has struggled with a calf injury in recent months. There were good runs from the twelve juniors who took part.
