In unseasonably warm sunny conditions many of the competitors had chosen to don their fancy dress costumes.

A slow cautious start saw Senator Lyndon Farnham in Santa outfit disputing the lead with Glenn Springate, dressed as Buzz Lightyear and Dave Woodsford dressed as a Dalek.

However it wasn’t long before the serious runners hit the front, with University student Tom Perchard, Alan Angus and Tony Banks starting a long run for home.  Perchard (35.16) outsprinted Angus (35.18) and Banks (35.25) to claim victory in a fast time.

In the women’s race, a strong run from Felicity Johnson-Deeley (38.40), ensured victory, over Jo Gorrod (39.25).  Gorrod was not helped by the fact that the baby-grow outfit that she chose to run in, slowed her  down considerably in the warm conditions.  Danielle Leerson (42.30) ran o strongly to claim third place in the women’s race.

The run of the day award went to jointly Terri O’Donoghue and Dan Garrido.  They ran together, and finished together, in a time of 46 minutes 18 seconds.  They ran in bride and grown outfits, quite fitting really, as they are getting married in only a few days’ time.

After the race, London Marathon entry places were given to Glenn Springate, Bernie Arthur and Christine Ritchie.
