The Jersey Spartan athletic club held the first of their night time races at West Park recently. The 5K run was the brainchild of the road-running chairman & endurance coach Dave Woodsford. Results here.
He was pleased with the high turn out & the club will be repeating such events once a month throughout the winter.
Despite a strong wind it was an impressive performance by Elliot Dorey who led from the start to win in 15 mins 35 secs gaining himself the run of the day award. Runner up in 17 mins 09 secs was Tony Banks & 3rd in 17 mins 29 secs, making a welcome return to distance running was Dave Ibbotson.
It was much closer for the ladies, with duathlete Katie Thompson the first woman home, posting a time of 19 mins 50 secs. Aelene Lewis was 2nd in 19 mins 57 secs & 3rd place went to Andrea Banks in 20 mins 24 secs.
