Perfect conditions for last Track & Field event of 2021

A good number of athletes took the opportunity to have last local race before competing in the delayed Hampshire Championships on the Bank holiday weekend, and the warm, still conditions at the track allowed some strong performances.

Continuing his good form in 2021, Steven Mackay won the senior 100m in 11.0s, from Finlay Amy-Smith (11.9s).  Steven then went on to win a wonderfully competitive 400m in a PB of 49.0s, holding off Peter Irving who finished 2nd in a seasons best of 50.4s.  Charlie Bird (U20, PB of 52.4s) and Matthew Brown (U17 PB of52.7s) battled it out for 3rd and 4th respectively, with Yasmin Lookess (Snr) not letting the side down for the women and achieving a seasons best of 60.9s.

Lucie Baker (U17) put in a strong performance in her first try over 300m with a time of 42.8s.  Eva Hall (U15) followed her home in a respectable 44.7s.

New member Jamie Oldham (U17) ran 11.7s in his first 100m for the Club, and Danielle Wilkinson (U17, 13.0s) had a win over Hayden Pister (U20), to complete a very consistent set of 100m races this season.  Guest Charlie Le Mains (U13) ran a great 100m in 13.5s.

The PBs continued in the distance races.  In the 1500m PBs were achieved by Hollie Masefiled (U17 – 5:23.3), Ella Hughes (U17 – 5:37.1), Thalia Izzeoni (U15 – 5:43.8), Jem Gurner (U20 – 4:12.3), George Carney (U17 – 4:46.4).  In the 5,000m Tom Atkinson (U20) knocked 7 seconds off his previous track best to come in at 15:41.3, with Bruno Fransisco (Snr) taking 17 seconds off his previous time.

In the jumps, the strongest performances were Archie Fisher (U13 – 4.17m) and Kieran Pister (U15 – 5.15m).

As usual, many thanks to all volunteers and officials for enabling the Club to host these events, to Dan from Sportscast Jersey for yet again attending our event and taking fabulous pictures, and to the ongoing support from our sponsor FCM.
