Tony Banks emerged as the winner of the Santandar 5K road race at Les Platon recently. Recording a time of 16.33 he finished with a certain amount in hand from runner up Tom Kearns. This was Kearns’s first race for some time and his 17.15 effort brings much promise for the future. Veteran Phil Ahier, always consistent was third in 17.20 just ahead of early race leader Josh Brien. Brein who had set off at a blistering pace, wearing gym shoes, recorded a personal best time of 17.38. His gutsy run winning him the run of the day award.

Jo Gorrod finished victorious in the ladies race; she was the seventh overall finisher and won in 18.14 seconds. Runner up was Sylvia Thompson who continued her rich vein of form setting a personal best time in 19.44. Jersey Spartan stalwart Sue Le Ruez ran strongly to finish third in 22.09
