Advisa 2012-2013 series Race 2 result

The second Advisa Group Cross Country race took place last Saturday at Les Mielles des Morvilles. This was a new course making use of some of the wider footpaths that have been created recently and start was before a bridge. The runners had a  quick start and convergde in a pack to be shepherded over the bridge by a cordon of parents. The course then turned right before looping around the bird sanctuary and returning via the dunes with a finish over the bridge.

The course was measured as three quarters of a mile and the 7/8 age group ran this loop.

The 9/10 age group ran a smaller loop and a larger loop and this measured approximately two kilometres.

The 11-14 age group ran the two largest loops making their race one and a half miles. This series has been running for twenty three years and today saw a record entry of ninety four runners.

In the 7-8 age group Oliver Rothwell made in two wins out of two in the boys’ race whilst in the girls’ race Lucy Hunt pipped Lily Scott to reverse the positions from the last race. Jack Kennedy won the boys’ 9-10 age group by a considerable distance and in doing so again made it two wins out of 2 and similarly double winner Adele Maher ran the girls’ race. Again another two wins out of two for William Brown and Florence Gothard in the 11-12 age group whilst there were new winners in the 13-14 age group with Ollie Turner and Gemma Gothard.

After the race Advisa Group medals were given to the first three home in each age group and lucky race numbers were drawn for six pairs of cinema ticket spot prizes.
