Bruno Francisco was the clear winner of a 5.75 mile cross country race at Pont Marquet at the weekend. The course was in good condition despite the recent bad weather. Francisco powered home in 33 minutes 54 seconds, winning the race and gaining the run-of-the-day award. Second home in 36-37 was Damien Maher, maintaining his fine form of recent months, while postman Jon Coote delivered in style and gained third spot in 37-07.
Jo Gorrod, Jersey’s finest female distance runner for more than a decade, was a clear winner of the women’s race. She was the sixth runner home overall and first woman finisher in 38-14. Arlene Lewis made a slow start and managed to lose her way on a couple of occasions but still took the runner-up spot in 43-47. Third place went to supervet Sue Le Ruez in 46-47.
