Representing England, Evan and his three team mates won silver in the National Finals, in Glasgow this weekend. Individually Evan placed 5th, clocking the second highest score for his England team and helping them to medal.
The event was between the best athletes from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
Qualification for England was no easy ask as Evan needs to master – Hurdles, 400,1500,LJ,HJ,Discus,Shot, Javelin.
During the season Evan won:
· Gold at the Somerset Schools event
· Silver at the South West regional competition amassing an impressive score of 5179 points; this brought him his national standard badge (power of 10 top 10) and would see him climb to rank No. 3 on the Power of 10.
These results meant he qualified for the National finals
Despite great results on the track, even Evan would admit, he had a bit of a disaster in the discus, with 2 no throws and a poor standing throw.
Never one to give up Evan fought back from 22nd place with a series of pbs . Going into the last event Evan was placed 4th . Unfortunately, despite a brilliant last 1500 Evan was pipped to fifth which would see him miss selection for the International.
This looked like the end of Evan’s season despite some fantastic events.
However during October half term Evan got a call to notify him he had been chosen for Team England.
Evan had two weeks to prepare for the International.
This makes his success even more impressive,
Congratulations Evan on a fantastic achievement – your success is well deserved.
