Launch of the Jersey Cancer Relief Half Marathon 2024 in association with JSAC

Following on from the success of our Dementia Jersey Half Marathon 2023, where we raised over £2,000 for Dementia Jersey, we are excited to announce the launch of the Jersey Spartan Athletic Club 2024 Half Marathon. The race will take place on Sunday 8th September 2024, starting at 9am.

For the 2024 edition of our Half Marathon we are delighted to be partnering with Jersey Cancer Relief.

Jersey Cancer Relief is a local charity, incorporated in November 1973, offering non-means tested financial support to Jersey resident adults with a cancer diagnosis.

Sadly the prevalence of cancer is increasing, meaning that now, on average, 1 in 2 islanders can expect to get cancer at some point in their life. Living on an island brings an extra element of cost and complexity when it comes to treatment with many patients requiring some time in the UK. The financial strain that this can put people under is considerable and this is where Jersey Cancer Relief steps in, offering financial assistance on a case-by-case basis.

While this is clearly a very worthy charity in its own right, it holds special importance for the club as JSAC’s own Dave Woodsford was recently diagnosed with cancer and was supported by Jersey Cancer Relief during his treatment at Addenbrookes in the UK.
