The second race of the 2025/2026 JSAC Ogier Cross-Country season took place at Noirmont on 13 December 2025, with runners greeted by glorious December sunshine and clear winter skies.
The venue once again proved a popular and picturesque setting, with the course making the most of Noirmont’s headland, woods and undulating terrain. While conditions underfoot were largely firm for the time of year, the exposed setting of much of the course ensured that runners remained challenged.
A full programme of races took place across the afternoon. Competitors ranged from Under 9s right through to Adults, creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere. As usual, the younger athletes demonstrated enthusiasm, determination and impressive racing skills, boding well for the future of cross country in the Island.
A particular mention should be made for the adults who took part. The commitment and competitive spirit shown by these runners set a strong example for the younger age groups. The series is open to all-ages and all-abilities, and any parent or adult who enjoys running is encouraged to give it a go! New faces are always very warmly welcomed at future races.
Events of this scale simply do not happen without the dedication and hard work of volunteers. Sincere thanks go to all of the marshals, organisers, officials and helpers who gave up their time to ensure the races ran safely and smoothly. From course setup and marshalling to results and general support on the day, their efforts were invaluable and hugely appreciated. The success of the Noirmont race was a direct reflection of their commitment, and the league would not be possible without them.

With two races now completed, the league standings are beginning to take shape, but plenty remains to be decided as the season progresses.
As a reminder, the next event will be at Beauport on 31 January 2026, with timings likely to be broadly similar to this event.
