Lucy Woodward had an excellent outing at the England Athletics Combined Events Championships at the end of January. Not only did she improver her pentathlon PB from 3551 to 3762, she did it with 4 out of 5 legal/indoor PBs. A superb first outing of the year!
Lucy had this race report:
Was my season opener, training had been going well bar a knock of confidence in high jump the week before, that’s still a bit of a struggle event for me but we’re getting there.
Opened comp with a half a second hurdles PB of 9.05 down from 9.55. High jump, given what had happened the week before, I wasn’t too unhappy with, came away with 1.57, only 3cm below my PB. Threw a shot PB of 11.56 in the first round, 50cm further than I’ve ever thrown in a multi event competition. Jumped to a legal long jump PB of 5m50 for the first time in 7 years. Finally, I finished the comp with an indoor 800m PB of 2mins 19 seconds to beat my previous indoor PB of 2mins 22 seconds and only 1 second off my outdoor PB. Really happy with the progress I’ve been making and very excited to get back out there again at British champs 🙂
