Advisa Hepburn Oracle Cross Country League

RACE 5       VENUE:            Kempt Tower

DATE               26 January 2013                  Results Advisa race 5 Jan 2013

The fifth Advisa Group Cross Country race took place last Saturday at Kempt Tower. The race took place during a very mild spell of weather with the temperature recording ten degrees centigrade which made the running very enjoyable. The course normally follows an anti-clockwise loop around the bird sanctuary but due to severe flooding on the far side by the five mile road the course was changed so that the runners returned, after a smaller loop, along the path they set out on returning to finish.

The 7-8 year olds ran one exactly one kilometre and this was the biggest race of the with 32 runners competing. There was a fantastic race by the girls with Lucy Hunt just beating Lily Scott by a whisker with both runners recording the same time. Clemie Carnegie took third place. Oliver Rothwell continued his good form recording five wins out of five in holding off Jakob Stanton and George Daniels.

In the nine to 10 age group the course was extended by a larger out and back loop with the distance measured as 1.8 kilometres. Like Oliverin the younger age group Jack Kennedy also made it five wins out of five in leading home Peter Holmes and Dougie Brown. In the girl’s race Adele Maher also had a convincing win in leading home Ellie Boustouler and Hauden Pister.

The final race of the day was the eleven and over age groups in which fifteen runners competed. These runners ran two laps recording a 3.6 kilometre race. William Brown won the 11/12 age group from Isaac Du Val and Peter Raimbault whilst Florence Gothard won from Georgia Mitchinson and Daisy McAllister. Finally Sam Maher won the 13-14 age group from Ollie Tutner and Barnaby Zaman and Yasmin Lookess won the girl’s race.

After the race Advisa Group medals were given to the first three home in each age group and lucky race numbers were drawn for six pairs of cinema ticket spot prizes.
