The JSAC held a 1.4 mile beach race on Tuesday 5th August at St. Brelade’s Bay.
Jamie Barker was the winner of the event in 8 mins 5 secs, taking the lead near the half way mark at the Smugglers pub at Ouaisne. Early leader Nick Gorrod took the runner-up spot in 8.12. The evergreen super-veteran pushed Barker all the way only losing by 7 secs but winning himself the “run of the night” award. Third man home was Jon Coote in 8.53.
Third overall and first woman home was Jo Gorrod who lead the women’s race from the start to record a time of 8.24. Second spot went to Pauline Alderman who made a fast start and took 11.06 to complete the course. Emma Gardiner took third place in 11.22.
The next JSAC event is a 10km race from the top of L’Etacq hill in St Ouen (at the old Bal Tab site) at 6.30pm on Tuesday 12th August..
