Alderney Half Marathon 2011
Three Jersey Spartan runners ran in the Alderney half marathon recently.
In a field of over 90 competitors, Sylvia Thompson took the lead early on in the ladies event, powering away from her competitors to finish a clear 18 minutes ahead of her newest rival, a runner from Guernsey.
Thompson won in a time of 1 hour 37. 20 seconds and was the 8th overall finisher.
Former two-time Alderney champion Jon Coote, used the race as a vital tune-up for next month’s Jersey Marathon, finishing third in 1.27 Glenn Springate, who is also aiming at the October event, ran steadily to come in at 1.32, a valuable work-out for him in 6th place.
