Tony Banks was the winner of a cold and blustery Jersey Spartan 10km race from Gorey Village to St Catherines and back to Longbeach car-park on Sunday morning. Fortunately the predicted snow flurries didn’t arrive and Banks, controlling the race from the start, came home in 34 mins 34 secs, a clear winner. Runner-up was James Faudemer in 37-06, with newcomer Mark Gilmour third in 38-53.
The women’s race was much closer. Andrea Banks, aiming at a family double, lead for a large portion of the race but was overtaken in the later stages by Claire Wilson who powered home to win in 39-45, which also won her the run-of-the-day award. Andrea Banks was second in 40-15, with Sue Le Ruez third home in 46-30.
The next JSAC event is an off-road race at Pont Marquet Country Park with a 10am start on Sunday 15th February.
