Hampshire Cross Championships Saturday 7th Jan

http://www.athletics.hampshire.org.uk/events/xcc.html

A group of 22 Spartan Athletes will be competing on Saturday at the Hampshire Cross Championships which returns after an absence of two years to Dibden, Southampton.  With full junior teams at u13 level and a strong u17 men’s team, together with a number of runners with a good chance of county selection and a few medal prospects too, things are set for an exciting day of competition.

The Hampshire Championships has become the first big off Island race of the Cross Country Season and therefore an important training target. Over the Christmas period there has been no let up in training, with extra sessions at Queens Valley Reservoir and on the beach at Green Island to make sure all the team are fit for the big day and to ward of the affects of too much Christmas pudding.  Competing against athletes from across Hampshire is a great test of race fitness and an ideal way to broaden experience of some of the younger members of the squad mainly used to smaller local races.  Dependent on their performance at the Championships some of the athletes may be offered the opportunity to compete at prestigious national level races later in the season, such as the Inter-Counties and the English Schools

The full squad is;
U13G Alice Bain, Brooke Lidster, Yasmin Lookess, Amber O’Driscoll
U15G Catherine Billington, Gemma Gotthard
U17G Danielle Leerson, Chloe Turmel
U13B William Brown, Joe Hugh, Sam Maher, Jack Leerson, Jack Peggie, David Raimbault
U15B Phil Maguire, Finlay Wright
U17M Daniel Heaven, Daniel Robinson, Oliver Terry, Aaron Turmel,
U20M Elliott Dorey
VM Paul Huddlestone
